Ambassador of India, Ramu Abbagani, visits UNPHU

Universidad Nacional  Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU) hosted the visit of the Ambassador of India, Mr. Ramu Abbagani, who was received by the Rector, Architec Miguel Fiallo Calderón; joined by Claudia Acra, Director of Research, and Aldo Erazo, Director of International Relations.

During his visit, Mr. Ramu Abbagani, presented a novel proposal for collaboration where he indicated the benefits that can be obtained by incorporating Ayurvedic medicine into the teaching of health sciences. The government of India wishes to sign a memorandum of understanding with the university to make available teachers and experts in this area and bring them to the country to teach; conducting exchanges of weeks, months, 1 year or whatever time is decided.

The meeting was held at the university’s rectory on March 7, 2023.

On Ayurvedic Medicine

Medical system originating in India that has been used for thousands of years. The goal is to cleanse the body and restore balance between body, mind, and spirit. Regimens of diet, medicinal herbs, exercise, meditation, physical therapy, and other methods are used. It is a type of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) treatment. Also called Ayurveda.
