SANTO DOMINGO.- The impact of the biological revolution that took place at the end of the 20th century, the emergence of the digital revolution 4.0, which includes operating systems and programming languages, which are dramatically changing the way of tackling problem solving, and give rise to new fields of knowledge, where Artificial Intelligence is playing a leading role were cited as the main challenges to which the educational system has been subjected at the higher level, both undergraduate and postgraduate.
“This is an invaluable opportunity to navigate the current and future landscape of careers that will drive the scientific and technological progress of our world, increasingly driven by science and technology, which has to be attentive and open to new opportunities that arise, such as this one, where we will talk about emerging careers,”
Miguel Fiallo Calderón, rector at UNPHU, said this when he led the panel “New careers for scientific development and technological innovation at UNPHU”, where the aforementioned challenges are giving rise to new fields of knowledge, and Artificial Intelligence is playing a leading role.
The activity, held at the Max Henríquez Ureña Hall, was aimed at seeking answers that help increase the quality of teaching and learning in higher education, and determining whether Dominican institutions are prepared to diversify the academic offer in the digital era that surrounds them.
The panel was attended by experts such as Julio Moisés Álvarez, physicist; Alberto J Núñez Selles, advisor, and researcher at UNPHU; Nelphy De la Cruz Félix De Pérez, researcher, and associate professor at UASD; Galileo Violini, former professor of mathematical methods in physics at the Universities of Rome; Germercy Paredes, PhD. researcher in Micro-nanomaterials at PUCMM and Kety M. Jiménez, PhD. professor at UASD. The moderator was Dr. Jackson Sánchez, director of the Physics Department of UNPHU.
