Future training arrangements were planned for the staff of the health center.
Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), received the visit of the authorities of the Hospital Dr. José Vinicius Calventi Gaviño, headed by Colonel Ophthalmologist Dr. José Alfredo Alfaro Pla, Medical Director, Dr. Maribel Nova, Family Physician and Head of the Education Department, and Dr. Cindy Rodríguez, boarding school coordinator at UNPHU Medical School. The commission was received by Rector Architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón and Dr. William Duke, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
During the visit, a technical meeting was held to discuss issues of common interest. A tour was also made of the different faculties of the university campus including the areas of the UNPHU Simulation Hospital called COSMOS, the anatomic institute Dr. Alejandro Capellán, where they observed new and modern areas such as the Virtual 3D Teaching Anatomage for Dissection; and the UNPHU National Brain Bank, the first in the Caribbean.
At the meeting, future training agreements were planned for the health staff of the care center and various topics were analyzed related to health research, body donation, international rotations of residents and medical specialists, future medical residences endorsed by UNPHU, as well as training for nursing and other health professionals.
They resumed the training program in continuing education, in a program to be developed in 2023, with the support of both institutions and the endorsement of UNPHU.
