«Dominican Social and Cultural Identity» Talk at UNPHU

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña, its Faculty of Humanities and Education, through its Department of History and Geography, held the talk «Dominican Social and Cultural Identity», with Dr. Celsa Albert Batista. The talk was written by the author.

The historian addressed social, cultural, and historical elements that gave rise to our rich Dominican identity, derived from Spanish, Aboriginal and African influences. Professor Juana Guerrero, from the Department of History and Geography, read Dr. Albert Batista’s portrait before a large group of students and collaborators at the university.

A society that raises awareness of its richness, diversity and identity also creates the deepest roots for the defense of its historical and cultural heritage. This talk underscored those values that are increasingly threatened by political and hegemonic pressures that ignore the powerful richness of our identity and diversity.

The event was held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, in the Conference Room of Building 3, the university’s first floor.
