Juana Barceló Víctor Bisonó y Josefina Pepín
The Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM), Víctor (Ito) Bisonó, led the closing ceremony of the pilot program and the beginning of the second stage of the supplier development project, in which five companies in the province of Sánchez Ramírez were trained in different administrative issues such as the financial management, inventory management, taxation, business model, strategic planning and agreement drafting.
With these workshops, the companies that participated in the program have been able to strengthen their capacities, which contributes to local economic development and facilitates small and medium-sized enterprises to have the conditions to offer goods and services to multinationals such as Barrick Pueblo Viejo and other companies in the area. It was a pilot project that expands and will impact twenty new local companies in the province of Sánchez Ramírez, guaranteeing technical assistance and support in updating their processes for measuring and evaluating internal operating costs.
With this initiative, the State promotes projects that allow companies to integrate into global value chains and use the platform for other Dominican companies to prepare themselves and meet the necessary standards established by multinationals in the country.

During the event, a new collaboration agreement was signed between MICM, Barrick Pueblo Viejo and UNPHU to continue contributing to the strengthening of partnerships between the public sector, industry, and academia, through the supplier development program to make the technical capabilities of companies more efficient.
At the event, was present on behalf of the university. Josefina Pepín Ubrí, Vice-Chancellor of Research, Linkage, and Internationalization Projects.
