Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU), through the Directorate of Institutional Experience and Graduate Management, in coordination with the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences and its School of Law, recognized as a Distinguished Graduate, the alumni César Florentino De Jesús Herrera Díaz, for his notorious professional work; stand out in his work and private life, contributing positively to society.
The parchment was handed over by the rector of the university, Architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón, at an event at the Rectory, on November 14, 2023. Present at the event were Patricia Perez, director of the Law School, Claudia Acra, director of Research; Yolimar Mejías, academic director of Postgraduate, Aldo Erazo, Director of International Affairs and Elizabeth Severino, Graduate Coordinator.
About the César Florentino De Jesús Herrera Díaz
Upon graduating from UNPHU with a law degree in 1991, he began a postgraduate course in International Relations for the Caribbean at the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO). In 1992, he received a scholarship from the Spanish Government, in his capacity as an official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to pursue a postgraduate course in studies at the Spanish Diplomatic School.
He has conducted several refresher courses on skills, knowledge, and doctrines necessary for the exercise of diplomatic work in diplomatic and consular schools in our country, and in destinations such as Brazil, Chile, Berlin, the German Foundation for International Development, as well as ALADI in Montevideo. He holds two Master’s Degrees in International Business Law from the University of London and in International Policy and Diplomacy from Staffordshire University.
In his working life, he has held important public and private positions. In 1990 he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, working for several years in its Legal Division, attaining the position of manager of the International Treaties Section and sub-manager of the Division.
In 2000 he was sent to the Dominican Embassy in Germany as Minister Counselor and Second Minister of Mission and has since served at the Embassy of Germany and Australia. In the academic field, he has served as a professor of Private Law I and II subjects and as a content advisor at the master’s thesis level. He was recently appointed ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Republic of Peru.
