Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), inaugurated the «Anatomage Convertible Table», anatomical dissection in 3D, of the campus building 9. The Hall was designated as Dr. Ramón Tallaj, aimed at teaching students of the Health Sciences.
The Anatomage has physiological functions and kinetically functional bodies that allow the simulation of bone, muscle, nerve and cardiovascular tissue movement. It also has integrated a library with more than 1,000 cases of preloaded Clinical Images, in original format, with capacity to render in 3D Images of anatomy of ultra high definition, among other functions. This team reinforces the advanced technology resources of our School of Medicine.
At the event were present the Rector Architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón; Dr. William Duke, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; Dr. Eduardo García, associate dean; the Aldo Erazo, Director of International Affairs, Dr. Claudia Scharf, director of the School of Medicine, and the director of Institute Dr. Alvaro Ventura, among other special guests.
Dr. Tallaj is a distinguished graduate of the university and has received several awards on two different occasions, such as the most prominent Dominican in the United States of America; by the Committee of Dominicans Abroad, and also by the Office of Hispanic Affairs for the Catholic Church in New York. In 2004, he was selected to carry the Olympic torch in New York City. He received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2006. He also received the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor on 17 May 2006 in New York City.
Dr. Tallaj has been named as one of the best doctors of America by the American Consumer Research Council in 2006 and was honored by the Association of Hispanic Health Care Executives – AHHE as Health Care Entrepreneur of the Year 2016.
