The Festival “Centroamérica Cuenta” 2023, moves to UNPHU with the Illustrate and Write talk

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña, through its Department of Letters and Philosophy, held the talk “Illustrate and write to tell”, with the participation of Julio Serrano Echeverría (Guatemala), Olga de Dios (Spain) and Basilio Belliard (Dominican Republic). The event is part of the Festival Centroamerica Cuenta 2023, in its tenth edition, held from May 16 to 21, with the participation of authors from 20 countries.

During the discussion, the initiative to tell stories for children and adolescents was discussed, and it was also raised how illustrations and good stories in literature are fundamental to attract their attention from a different perspective, including diversity and identity.

The opening words of the event were given by Alberto Garrido, director of the Department of Letters and Philosophy, and Catalina Andújar Scheker, representative of the Organization of Ibero-American States.

The event was held in the Conference Room of Building 3, first floor, and was broadcast on the UNPHU YouTube channel. You can see it at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWfv2EuSlEo

About Centroamerica Cuenta

Centroamerica Cuenta is a literary festival that promotes critical thinking from literature and the arts. It was founded in Managua in 2013 and is currently being developed in two formats: one virtual throughout the year, and another in two annual editions: one in cities of the Central American region, and the Caribbean, and another in Madrid, Spain.

It is the most important literary meeting in the region, and its main purpose is to contribute to the projection and dissemination of Ibero-American literature from Central America. To date, the festival has held more than 400 events, with the most representative voices from Latin America, Spain, the United States, France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands.
