Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña and the Mayorship of North Santo Domingo (ASDN) signed an agreement of cooperation to work jointly providing consultancy to the council in the performance of the Municipality Plan of Territorial Order.
The agreement was headed by the engineer Walter Lendor, Vice-rector of Institutional Development and Projects at UNPHU, and Mr. Carlos Guzmán, Mayor of ASDN.
The agreement will train the technical staff of the mayorship with workshops of the Geographic Information System (SIG), among other resources given by the School of Geomatic Engineering.
The last year students of the careers of Architecture and Urbanism and Engineering will participate in a program of internship of the council, with the purpose to contribute with research projects and specific designs to PMOT from the management of Urban Planning.
In addition, UNPHU will support with technological resources as drones and labs, contributing with an effective Municipal Plan of Territorial Order for North Santo Domingo.
PMOT of North Santo Domingo will be linked to the National Strategy of Development (Lw 2012-01), the new Urban Agenda 2030, and the Goals of Sustainable Development (ODS) focusing on the green structure and adaptation to Climate Change.
The engineer Lendor stated: “Is an honor to contribute with knowledge to the Plan of Territorial Order for North Santo Domingo, to hold the council led by Carlos Guzmán could achieve excellent results.”
The mayor, Carlos Guzman, expressed: “the tools that UNPHU will provide through this agreement open a space for the transformation of the sectors of North Santo Domingo, and the citizens will know about the existent type of soil.”
The agreement was signed by Heidi De Moya Simó, Director of the School of Architecture and Urbanism at UNPHU, Mr. Desiderio Muñoz, president of the Chapter Hall; Mrs. Rosana Brito, Director of Urban Planning; Mr. Darío Carvajal, Director of Planning and Development and Mr. Marcelo Heredia, legal director.
