UNPHU celebrates the anniversary 50 of graduates of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña (UNPHU) held the anniversary 50 of the first cohort of graduates from the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences in an activity with the participation of 17 of 21 graduates of the year 1966-1971. 

During the ceremony, 16 graduates were acknowledged, and three honors were awarded due to their excellent performance and contributions to the country, which are essential to the history of UNPHU. 

Architect Miguel Fiallo Calderon, the rector at UNPHU, gave the welcome: “The celebration of the 50 years of graduation of this first-class is of high symbolic value for life and the history of UNPHU. It confirms the importance of the work of this institution and its contributions to the wellbeing and development of the Dominican society”. 

Similarly, the advances and changes in the installation of new facilities, more technology, and knowledge, but always keeping the tradition of academic excellence and human excellence. 

Dr. Gladys de Jesus Mendez addressed the appreciation words in the name of all the class; she graduated in economics with the highest honor in her category and is the first Dominican woman to receive a Ph.D. in economics from an international university.

Now the university is accredited by the Board of Accreditation of School Programs of Business Management, Accounting and Audit, Marketing and Hospitality and Tourism.

The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, Dr. Leonardo Conde, was present at the ceremony, with the Director of Graduates and Institutional Experience, Laura Veloz. The event had the collaboration of Teresita Frias de Contreras, Nancy Suazo Grateraux and Silvestre Aybar Sanchez. 

The Department of Institutional Experience and Management of Graduates is in charge of acknowledging, evidence, and providing follow-up the graduates from the university, promoting their participation in the different activities of the university.
