Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU) closed the training course for district directors active in the education system of the Dominican Republic; training conducted in collaboration with the University of Barcelona, and the sponsorship of the National Institute of Teacher Training and Education (INAFOCAM).
During the development of the training proposal, topics related to the management of training institutions at the school level were addressed, which were contextualized to the normative and organizational framework of the Education System of the Dominican Republic.
This training was carried out based on research that yielded a diagnosis on the training needs of the participants, which allowed to offer an adapted proposal to develop skills and abilities that impact the management of the regional, district and educational centers.
The words of welcome were given by Patricia Matos, academic vice-chancellor of UNPHU; Dr. Francisco Ramírez, executive director of INAFOCAM, offered a few words; while Dr. Francisco Pérez Lozano, academic director of the Institute of Continuing Education of the University of Barcelona, spoke on behalf of the aforementioned institution, the conference entitled: “The role of territorial educational authorities in the processes of improvement of the Dominican school system”.
The event was attended by UNPHU, Geisha Carpio, Vice Chancellor of Postgraduate Studies; José Ramón Suriel, director of the School of Education; on behalf of INAFOCAM, Gelson Navarro Paulino, in charge of Continuing Education and Mss. Florangel Araujo, teaching technician; and the University of Barcelona, Ms. María José Osuna, operational coordinator of the Institute of Continuing Education; as well as special guests.
The training included fellows from the program and took place on November 23, 2023, in the Max Henríquez Ureña hall, building 4 of the university.
