UNPHU consolidates itself as a regional leader by hosting the XIX Ibero-American Meeting on Education (EIDE 2025) in a hybrid manner

Under the motto: “Education in Ibero-America in a context of digital, inclusive, and humanistic transformation,” the “XIX Ibero-American Meeting of Education” (EIDE 2025), organized by the University of Alcalá (UAH) in Madrid, Spain, with support from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU) of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science, and Culture (OEI), was held in a hybrid format.

The Rector of UNPHU, Architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón, emphasized in his closing remarks that: “Once again we see that, beyond our geographical, cultural, or institutional differences, we are united by a common purpose: to improve education to transform lives” and added that: “The education we crave must not only be inclusive, critical, and transformative; it must be, above all, profoundly human. An education that recognizes that behind every statistic there is a face, a name, and a story.”

Other topics explored included diversity, equity, and accessibility in the future classroom through presentations on the Universal Design for Learning (UDL), the inclusion of deaf students in rural Colombian areas, the role of physical education teachers in inclusion, and school reinforcement in basic sciences.
