UNPHU dictates a webinar, “Main endo and external parasites in cats.”

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña (UNPHU), through the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and the School of Veterinary, held the webinar “Main endo and external parasites in cats” under Dr. Carlos Calvo.

The goal of the activity was to educate students of Veterinary in the handling of all kinds of parasites in cats. 

Within the subjects approached were the following: definition of external parasites and parasites, also the ectoparasites or external parasites including a wide variety of arthropodous parasites, which belongs taxonomically to the subclass Acari (ticks and acarus) and the type of insects (ticks, biting and mordacious lice, sandfly, fly, and mosquitos. 

Also referenced are the existent challenges around parasites, the functioning of the parasite’s hosts, the frequency of disinfesting, and the techniques of an actual diagnosis. It also indicated the use of labs for detection.
