UNPHU graduate climbs the highest mountains in South America, North America and Europe.

A graduate of the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña, School of Industrial Engineering (UNPHU), Thais Herrera Jiménez decided to embark on the Adventure Grand Slam project that includes climbing the seven highest summits of each continent and the North and South Poles. 

Of these seven summits, Herrera Jiménez has managed to climb three, which are: Aconcagua in South America, with an altitude of 6,962 meters, the Elbrus in Russia (Europe), with an altitude of 5,642 meters and Denali in North America with an altitude of 6,198 meters.; becoming the first Dominican to achieve such an extraordinary feat and wave the tricolor flag in each of them. 

Afterwards, she will climb the top of Kilimanjaro in Africa, in Antarctica the Vinson Massif, South Pole, North Pole; the Pyramids of Carstensz in Oceania and, finally, in Asia, the Everest.

The mountaineer is a source of inspiration and pride for the entire UNPHU community and the Dominican Republic.

About Thais Herrera Jiménez

She is an Industrial Engineer, holds a Master’s Degree in Senior Management and Finance. Owner and main facilitator of AsertivaRD, a company specialized in outdoor training and team building for both companies and educational institutions. 

She is certified in Storyteller and group dynamics. In addition, she is a mountaineer, triathlete and the first Dominican woman to ascend to the highest summits of South and North America, and Europe, and to complete an Ironman. 

She organizes the international sports event Pico Duarte Express, where you can get on and off the summit of the West Indies in the same day. She is also a philanthropist, and actively participates with some well-known foundations in social projects.
