Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), through the Directorate of Research, held the Master’s Lecture:Problematic of the University from the Geosciences Department, by Dr. Adriana Cabrera, professor and researcher of the Geology Department of the National University of Río Cuarto, Córdoba, Argentina.
The goal was to present the bases supporting the occurrence, origin, causes and geochemical behavior of dissolved fluorine in surface and groundwater. In addition, to show methodologies of studies and results obtained from similar research experiences in Argentina, to contribute to a better understanding of its distribution and the factors that control it in Azua (Dominican Republic), as a basis for better management and management of water resources.
During the activity, the Geochemical Model Research Project on fluoride concentrations in surface and groundwater in the southwest of the Dominican Republic was launched, and environmental implications assessment was undertaken. This project is implemented by the Research Directorate and the National Geological Survey, sponsored by FONDOCYT.
At the event were present. Josefina Pepín Ubrí, Vice-Chancellor of Research, Linkage, and Internationalization Projects; Claudia Acra, director of the Directorate of Research; Engineer Yenny Rodríguez, UNPHU Graduate School teacher and head of the Department of Hydrology, National Geological Service; Dr. María Guadalupe Silva, expert in epidemiology, School of Dentistry; Eng. Edwin Rafael García Cocco, Executive Director of the National Geological Service.
