UNPHU receives the visit of the distinguished graduate Doctor Ramon Tallaj

He was acknowledged twice as the “Most prominent Dominican in the United States of America” by the Committee of Dominicans Aboard” and the Office of Spanish Affairs for the Catholic Church in New York. 

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña (UNPHU), through the Department of International Affairs and the Department of Institutional Experience and Management of Graduated, received Doctor Ramón Tallaj. 

The doctor visited the university campus, emphasizing the School of Odontology, The National Bank of Brains, and the Center of Operations in Medical Simulations Objectively Systematized (COSMOS).  

After the visit, Doctor Tallaj was welcome at the rectory by Architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón, the rector at UNPHU. He was granted the award as Distinguished Graduated due to his significant contributions to the Hispanic society established in the United States and the management of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 at the Yankee Stadium by order of the NY governor. 

Mrs. Ines de Tallaj joined the rector and the awarded; Doctor William Duke, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; Doctor Carlos Montero, former Dean of the Faculty of Health, and Sciences; Mr. Aldo Erazo, director of the Department of International Relations and by Laura Pérez, director of the Department of Institutional Experience and Management of Graduates.

Dr. Tallaj held a conversation at the VIP hall of the university with students of the career of Medicine, organized by Doctor Claudia Scharf, director of the School of Medicine. 

About Doctor Ramon Tallaj

Studied Medicine at Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña (UNPHU), obtaining the title of Doctor in medicine in 1981 with Magna Cum Laude honors. 

Was graduated from internal Medicine in 1996 at Hospital St. Luke’s Roosevelt, obtaining his certification from the American Board of Internal   Medicine in the same year. 

He has been awarded on two different occasions as the Most Outstanding Dominican in the United States of America”, one time by the Committee of Dominicans Abroad and another by the Office of Hispanic Affairs for the Catholic Church in New York. 

In 2004 was selected to perform the Olympic Torch in the city of New York. Also was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2006. Received the prestigious medal of Honor Ellis Island on May 17, 2006, in New York City. 

Dr. Tallaj has been appointed as one of the best doctors in America by the Board of Investigation of Consumers of America in 2006. He was also honored by the Association of Hispanic Executives in Health Care- AHHE as Entrepreneurial Physician of 2016.
