The program will foster in-service learning, with a special emphasis on health education and promotion and prevention as tools to strengthen primary health care
The School of Medicine of Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), presented its program of Social Responsibility, in attention to the need to respond to the mission and vision of the school, to train competent health professionals concerned with social welfare and with the commitment to be agents of change.
The program was presented by Dr. Claudia Scharf and Dr. Jehison Corporán, director and academic coordinator of the School; It was supported in the strategic framework of the institution with orientation to the creation of a social leadership. UNPHU School of Medicine has designed as a strategy to build such leadership, the implementation of activities that respond to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) #3, which dictates ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages.
The idea of this program is to inoculate ideals of social responsibility and offer them the tools for future professional practice. In this way, as students and future graduates they will be able to develop skills for community and social work that results in improving the quality of life in the population, with a broad vision of their reality, which allows them to become agents of change.
The program respects and takes as a norm the guidelines proposed by the Global Consensus on Social Responsibility, the Pan American Health Organization World Health Organization, the Strategic Health Plan 2030 (PLANDES 2030) and the standards proposed by national and international accreditations.
The activity took place on January 25, 2024, in Max Henríquez Ureña Hall, building 4, and was attended by the university authorities.
