UNPHU signs an interinstitutional agreement for the formation of ADED

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña (UNPHU) signed an agreement of collaboration to create the Dominican Association of Design Scholls (ADED).

The signing of the agreement had the goal to promote the development of education and research and spread the good practices and the quality in the processes of teaching and learning of design and its branches. 

The agreement was signed by UNPHU, Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Instituto Tecnológico Las Américas (ITLA), Instituto Técnico Superior Mercy Jácquez (ITESUMJ), Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), Universidad APEC (UNAPEC), Universidad Central del Este (UCE), Universidad de la Tercera Edad (UTE), Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), Fundación Universitaria O&M and Instituto Técnico Superior Comunitario (ITSC).

The representatives of each university subscribed to a foundational declaration specifying that the new organ will be committed to a good interrelation and the spread of the branches of design as Industrial, graphic, interior, multimedia, fashion, and furniture design.

The agreement outlines that ADED will strengthen the academic relations and exchange with institutions of Superior Education related to Design, looking for a previous acknowledgment of the historical legacy, the development of skills and competencies of their students and graduates; to incorporate innovation and vanguard and approach growth and the professional update to achieve the national and international acknowledgment of the Dominican Design. 

The association is committed to promoting the celebration every two years, the Meeting of Schools of Design, promoting university mobility national and international level, and the development of new projects in response to the country’s social needs in such areas. 

UNPHU was represented by Architect Constantinos Saliaris, the School of Interior Design director. The act was held at “Multiusos” Hall in the building of Health Science Ana Mercedes Henriquez at INTEC.
