UNPHU welcomes medical students from Columbia University in student exchange

The Faculty of Health Sciences of Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), received five last year students from the School of Medicine of Columbia University, New York, United States who, for four weeks, will rotate through the different health services and have the experience of learning the Spanish language.

The students of Columbia University are: John Buyske, Maxime McGredy, Yanglu Chen, Jessica Nino de Rivera and Juliana Nitis; who will have the coordination of several teachers rotating around Dominican hospitals such as Robert Read, Vinicius Calventi, APS of Mata Hambre, Salvador B. Gautier, Center for Diagnosis and Advanced Medicine (CEDIMAT), among others, in areas of pediatrics, anesthesiology, family and community medicine, psychiatry, Infectology, internal medicine, dermatology and pneumology.

The students were received by the rector, Architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón; Mr. Aldo Erazo, Director of the Department of International Affairs and Dr. William Duke, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; who accompanied the team of the School of Medicine.

Medical students have passed all USMLE exams and will go in 2024 to compete for medical residency places in the United States.
