The Graduate School of the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU) sponsored a conference on “Success is not an Upward Stairway,” by Licenciada Darys Estrella Mordán.
Licenciada Estrella is a conference speaker, national and international consultant, and an expert on finance, stock markets, and sustainability. She received her Bachelor´s Degree from Vassar College in New York State, and an MBA from the University of Michigan. She has done graduate studies in Harvard and Yale Universities in the United States, in Oxford University in England, and the Central American Institute of Business Administration (INCAE) in Costa Rica.
The speaker was also named Vice President of the Emerging Markets Division of the company Deltec Asset Management, where she was in charge of political and economic analysis of the Latin American market. Between 2002 and 2007 she was Vice President of the Fixed Income and Commodities Division of the Goldman Sachs Investment Bank. In 2007, after having worked for 15 years on Wall Street, she returned to the Dominican Republic to assume the position of General Manager/CEO of the Dominican Republic Stock Exchange, the first woman in Latin America to hold such a position.
Estrella is currently a member of several boards of directors in the Dominican Republic, the United States, and Brazil. She has been a member of the board of directors of the Institutionality and Justice Foundation (“Fundación Institucionalidad y Justicia”) (Finjus), the National Social Security Council (CNSS), the Dominico-French Chamber of Commerce, and other organizations.
The activity, which was held in the Max Henríquez Ureña Hall, was attended by deans, directors, students, and the general public.
