The Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU) and the Pedro Henríquez Ureña Dominican University Foundation (FUDPHU) have inaugurated the Month Celebrating Dominican Identity.
During the opening ceremony they inaugurated the Exhibition of original 1929 topographical plans of our national border, which will be open to the public through February 28th in the Lobby of the Central Library. A presentation was also given by Ambassador William Páez Piantini on the Origins of the Dominican-Haitian Border.
The Month of Dominican Identity has included conferences on: Juan Pablo Duarte, February 5th in collaboration with the Instituto Duartiano; Environment of Hispaniola, February 8th, in collaboration with the Ministry for the Environment; Rights of the Sea of the Dominican Republic, February 13th, in collaboration with the National Authority on Maritime Affairs; Dominican Genealogy, February 15th; presentation of the documentary “Hay un País en el Mundo,” February 19th, in collaboration with Producciones Amaru and Banco BHD León; the Dominican Flag, February 20th, and the Dominican Coat of Arms, next February 22nd.
All of these activities have been held in the Max Henríquez Ureña Hall at 6:00 P.M., with the objective of underscoring Dominican identity and empowering the community and defending what is ours.
