UNPHU and the Embassy of the Republic of China Open Doors to MOFA and Taiwan ICDF Scholarships

 

The Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU), in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), held an exhibition about the procedures for applying for MOFA and Taiwan ICDF 2018 scholarships.

The individual in charge of scholarships, Ms. Rosa Wang, listed the requirements for scholarships, and encouraged those young Dominicans who are interested in studying for undergraduate, master´s, or doctoral degrees in Taiwan to apply for an ICDF and MOFA 2018 scholarship.

According to Wang, the MOFA 2018 scholarships will be granted to individuals 18 years of age or older, with a high school degree as a minimum, and with Dominican nationality.  They are for four years in the case of undergraduate and doctoral degrees, two years for a master´s, and an optional one year to study Mandarin.  Applications are open from February 1st to March 30th, 2018.

She also stated that the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF 2018) scholarships offer seven fields for undergraduate studies, 21 master´s programs, and two doctoral programs in 20 universities, given in English.  Applications are open until March 16th, 2018.

Linda Change, professor of Mandarin, spoke of the importance of studying Mandarin, and stated that the Taiwan scholarships are the best option for learning traditional characters that preserve the origin and true significance in its components, and open the door to the world of the Orient.

Chang explained that Dominicans can apply for a scholarship for an undergraduate, master´s, or doctoral program in Taiwan, and during their stay they will have the ability to learn Mandarin.

This activity, held in the lobby of the Graduate School, was attended by directors, professors, students, and the general public.
