The Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU) and its Research Directorate obtained financing for three research projects, through the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Innovation and Development (FONDOCYT).
The winning projects were “Influence of the Vegetation Coverage and Soil and Climate Factors on Hydraulic Conductivity in the Haina-Duey Micro-basin, as Supplier of Water to Greater Santo Domingo, Using the Analogous Forestry System as a Mechanism for Adaptation to Climate Change Based on Eco-systems,” under the charge of Mr. Francisco Arnemann, with a duration of 30 months.
Another winner was the project “Design and Testing of a Protocol for Multiplication in Vitro of Dendrocalamus asper Shult (giant bamboo), for the Promotion of Commercial Plantations in the Dominican Republic,” under the charge of Engineer Francisco Sanchís Guardiola, with a duration of 24 months.
A third winner was the project of “Analysis of the Adverse Systemic Effects of Fluor on Patients with Dental Fluorosis in the Province of Azua, Dominican Republic, under the charge of Ms. Fe Castillo Tejada de González, with a duration of 24 months.
