3rd Seminar on Psychological Research and Intervention at UNPHU

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), its Faculty of Humanities and Education, and its School of Psychology, held the 3rd Seminar of research and psychological intervention. The activity was intended to motivate students to develop research work from the School, and to establish improvements in research topics.

On the first day the research line addressed was the problem of psychoactive substance use, where the following topics were developed: The role of the National Drug Council in the creation of public policies and drug prevention, by Professor José Antonio Tejeda; International standards of drug use prevention by the Professor Mildred Del Carmen Goris Abreu, and Community Diagnosis and the importance of prevention as a science, by Damari Altagracia Suárez Díaz. 

The second day of the event started with the words of Professor Miguel Moreno, coordinator of VA Research, and Dr. Balduino Acosta, methodological teacher. The research was presented under the guidelines of Clinical Psychology and Psychoeducational Intervention and Legal Psychology and Psychosocial Intervention. The topics discussed were Research as a transversal axis of the teaching-learning process, by Dr. Iván Moronta Tremols; Quality experience in the Supervised Clinical Practices II program, hybrid, Professor Pat Olga Galán Laureano; Psychological Intervention in Emergency rooms, by Rudelania Valdez; Effective personality construct: socio-emotional competencies, Dr. Coral Vargas Osorio. Also were submitted research papers carried out by students, in the line of research: Legal Psychology and psychosocial intervention, which had as moderator Dr. Dulvis Mejía. The research papers presented were Prejudice and psychological discrimination of the Dominican, linked to skin color, by students Melissa Cerracchio Frías and Laura Mariel Hernández Acosta, and finally, The alternative resolution of conflicts, by Perla Mateo, Nayzeth Aichelle Santos, Wendy de la Cruz, Nicole Jiménez, Isabella Denis, Diego Gil, Edgar Domínguez, and Handel Morilla.

The main table was composed of Professor Geisha Carpio, dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Education; Professor Pat Galán, academic coordinator of the School of Psychology; Dr. Claudia Acra, director of Research and Professor Marisol Ivonne Guzmán, director of the School of Psychology.

The event took place on 31 March and 3 April 2023, in the Conference Room of Building 3.
