The University recognizes Dr. Socrates Segundo Bello Ortiz

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña and its Department of Management of Institutional Experience and Graduate Management, recognized Dr. Socrates Segundo Bello Ortiz, in the second edition 2022- 2023. This recognition is the highest award that the university gives to its graduates and is granted considering the professional, business, cultural, and contributions to society. 

The graduate has developed an arduous professional work, with excellent contributions to Dominican medicine. He is a cardiologist and internist, a professor with 40 years of experience in the classroom and head of the Internal Medicine Department of the UNPHU School of Medicine, co-author of books published on cardiology and an active member of the groups of his guild.

The award was handed over from the rector of the university, Architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón, accompanied by Laura Pérez Veloz, Director of Institutional Experience and Graduate Management. The act of recognition took place in the rectory of the university

About Dr. Sócrates Segundo Bello Ortiz 

Graduate of Medicine at UNPHU, with postgraduate degree in Internal Medicine and Post-Surgical Intensive Care in cardiac patients, and residence in cardiology. Since 1979, he has been teaching in the university’s fields of medicine, medical pathology, medical clinic, therapy, and cardiology. He has served as coordinator of the Internal Medicine Internship at INTEC and professor emeritus and coordinator of the Post-Degree Residency of Cardiology, Dr. Salvador B. Gautier Hospital since July 2008. 

He has been a guest lecturer at countless conferences, conventions, and courses, being mostly an exponent and co-author.

He is a co-author of published books on cardiology, critical medicine, and cardio dynamics. He is a full member of the Dominican Society of Cardiology and an active member of the Dominican Medical Association, among other groups of the guild.

For his hard work and contributions to Dominican medicine, he was recognized by his Alma Mater as a Distinguished Graduate in 2016.
