UNPHU and ONAPI sign an inter-agency agreement for the installation of Technology and Innovation Support Centers

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU) and the National Industrial Property Office (ONAPI) signed an inter-institutional agreement for the installation of peripheral Technology and Innovation Support Centers (CATI). This Agreement shall be valid for two years.

Assistance and guidance on patents, industrial designs and intellectual property benefits will be provided by the CATI Peripheral-UNPHU. They will be located on the university grounds.

With this agreement, both institutions will facilitate access to information for innovators from developing countries to high-quality local technology information and related services. The two institutions will be developing joint activities. 

The signing of the agreement took place in the university’s Rectory on February 15, 2023, between the Architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón, Rector at UNPHU, and Dr. Salvador Ramos, ONAPI’s general director, and was attended by Rubí Bretón, director of Centro Mipymes UNPHU and UNPHU Emprende.

About ONAPI

The National Industrial Property Office is a specialized technical public body attached to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, with technical autonomy and its own assets. ONAPI has the power to grant, maintain and enforce patents for inventions and utility models, and registers for industrial designs and distinctive signs.
