UNPHU students win 2022 XXII Inter-University Gastronomic Festival

Students at the School of Hospitality and Tourism of Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), were winners in the XXII Inter-University Gastronomic Festival 2022; this year, dedicated to exalting the best of Korean cuisine.

The UNPHU Hotel School won awards in almost all areas: Fish and Seafood, Rice, Poultry, Meat, appetizers in the special areas of Sweet Baldom and Salted Baldom.

The winning students were Esther Matos, Rafael Sosa, Elianny Feliz, Sebastián Campos, Yasmil Pineda and Marileny. The UNPHU team was led by student Esther Matos Cruz.

The participation of Diana Oviedo Cubillas, winner in the appetizers line, stands out. Student Oviedo is an intern at the Corhuila University Corporation.  University that, has collaboration agreement with UNPHU and received the necessary gastronomic training in our facilities.

The demonstration of the dishes was divided into 12 lines, among them: Appetizers, Soups and Creams, Poultry, Meat, Fish and Seafood, Desserts, Fusion Cuisine, Rice, Special Norwegian Cod, Special Salty Dishes Baldom, Special Sweet Dishes Baldom, and one last, line, Best Presentation.

This event was organized by UNAPEC, held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at the APEC Cultural Hall José María Bonetti Burgos.

About the Gastronomic Festival  

The festival invites a different country every year, to make its culture known through gastronomy. This initiative has allowed the students of Hospitality and Tourism of the universities, to learn about the cuisine of the different countries, their culinary secrets, ingredients, and techniques; allowing to have a global coverage.
